Autumn/Winter 2017 – Evergreen

The restorative effects of greenery has long been documented – in fact it is amazing how many psychological and physiological benefits there are when we surround ourselves with nature. The Evergreen trend that has recently emerged in homeware therefore is exactly what you need to feel good and update your home for the upcoming season.

If you love taking care of plants this is your time to shine with a huge variety of indoor plants to choose from (see the RHS website for great practical advice), but even if you are less green fingered (like myself) there are low maintenance plants like succulents and even some fabulous faux plants from places like Ikea. Or you could even just opt for a botanical print, some palm wallpaper or a tropical cushion cover.

Below I have outlined  some inspiration of how to style the Evergreen trend and some best buys to make those plants look extra special.

Here is another Pinterest board to get those ideas flowing!

How to make it work

There is a plant – either real or fake – that will work in every room, and every corner of your house. First look at each room to see if you think there might be something missing. If you have a plant already use it as a prop in each room to see how it feels. Very tall plants work particularly well when you want to draw peoples eye to a particular section of the room and look great in a basket.

You can also cluster plants on a shelf or on a mantle piece to really embrace this trend and make an otherwise cold space feel homely. I love a plant or two in a bathroom but watch out for which ones you go for as they will need to like humidity.

There are so many ways you can house these indoor plants – some of my favourite ones are highlighted below.
