2018 is the year of the rug. Well we hope it is for us anyway. Every year we write a list of jobs that need doing around the house, projects we might undertake and things we would like to buy. After a few months of trying to sell our John Lewis grey rug that sat comfortably under our coffee table in the lounge, we finally succeeded on Gumtree. We are now able to buy a new rug, guilt free, and are looking to replace it with a Berber style rug.
In my quest to find the perfect rug for the space I have done quite a bit of research which I thought might be helpful for others out there on a similar mission.
So starting from the cheapest, here is my edit of the best Berber style rugs currently on the market for less than £200.
Size – 95cm x 160cm
A great value option that looks fantastic at a fraction of the usual prices. His ethically sourced products all come with a story and this piece is no exception. If only it was slightly larger this would be the one for me!

La Redoute – £99 for the smallest size
Size – 120cm x 170cm
This rug is so famous it has its own instagram account! It was inevitable that it was going to feature on this edit and with the discounts that are often available for La Redoute it continues to be a good buy at a great price. Tempting.
Size – 140cm x 200cm
A gorgeous rug that is beautifully styled by Pea Style (main image). Just ever so slightly too small for what we were looking for but a really good price for what looks like a high quality item.

Size – 140cm x 200cm
Slight caveat with this one is that it doesn’t look like it is in stock anymore currently. However I have requested to be updated when it does come back in stock so I am hoping that it should be available soon! I love the look of the super snug texture to this rug.

Size – 160cm x 230cm
A lovely looking rug at a great price for the size. It is in stock and in budget. This is definitely one of the closest options I have found!
Size – 160cm x 230cm
A lovely looking rug that seems to be a slightly simpler design to the La Redoute version but still looks like it would feel amazing under foot. The one I am currently most leaning towards for our purchase.

A bolder simpler monochrome pattern to this rug that is somewhere between a Berber style rug and a more contemporary Scandinavian one. This means the rug would work well in lots of different homes.

My vote I think goes for the Made rug – for the price, size and crucially – availability. Now to purchase and wait the 4-6 weeks for it to arrive!
